DEAR READERS

My intention by writing and publishing this blog is to share the story of a kurdish syrian family of five whom I met on November 14th 2015 in Vienna, Austria. I have been their guardian ever since and therefore their story is related to my personal story, as their lives have changed mine.

The first blog entry was made in January 2016 as my schedule since November was very intense. The plan is to catch up by writing daily so that I can invite you to read what is happening in the present too.

Under pages, I will gather all information I have about the asylum process and how each of us can help in Austria, especially Vienna.

My goal is to inspire my readers through this story to be a guardian too. It is my firm belief that it is very crucial for all refugees to find guidance. Refugees ran away only to find themselves in a country they don´t know, a continent they may never visited, a mentality that is foreign to them, a language that doesn´t even share the same alphabet and on top of this all: most of them are in a waiting position. Waiting for their approved documents to arrive so that they can find work and start building a new life again. In the meantime they can´t get apartments in Vienna because the majority of home owners refuse to rent to refugees - no matter how much they are able to pay upfront. Therefore the majority of the refugees sleep in shelters, some in parks. According to Austrian law one needs a proof of residency in order to go to school. Shelters are no residence and therefore any child that has to sleep in a shelter, cannot participate in something as important as school.

Always remember....
....that children are our future. That it is every child´s right to go to school and have a home.
....that refugees lost their homes and hometown.
....that these two words have different meanings and that home and hometown are crucial to successful integration.
.....that succesful integration makes a happy person, a happy home and a happy hometown.
.....that in a world where everything is foreign to a refugee, there is one thing that anyone worldwide understands and expresses the same way: Love.
....that no law protects you from hatered, only Love.
....that we too could be refugees.

Thank you for reading,

Spread Love and Laughter,

Saman
