Shamse´s kitchen consists of one base cabinet with two burners. The dinner she served was delicious. She made a classic Syrian dish called Molokhia with Chicken. I will make sure to ask her for the recipe and post it here at some other point as, please remember, that I also need to have the recipe translated. :) In the meantime I found a recipe on a website called Aleppofood. Shamse also made rice, fried chicken and her signature salad that I love so much. I don´t know how she managed to make all of this using that one cabinet and the two burners. She´s magical.
After dinner Diar and I were fooling around, laughing and taking pictures. At some point I sneezed and the entire family of five said "Geeee-sundheit" at the same time which means "Bless you" in German. I laughed a lot. It was ure joy to see how they were settling and learning German.
It was lovely for all of us to spend one evening without paperwork and errands because it is fun. I decided to introduce them Austrian Folk music via Youtube. For some reason, I did not think that they would enjoy it. It is a very very unique kind of music after all. But as soon as the music started, Abdelaziz jumped up and danced, Shamse´s eyes got really big and she told me"Gut, Saman, sehr gut!"
What else could you ask for? They were learning German, participating in cultural activities and on top of it all they really enjoyed Austrian Folk Music. :)
