1 Month 9 days - A little entertainment - December 26th

We spent christmas with the family and received another donation for the Rasoul´s. This time it was a rice cooker that the family could use as they currently had only two burners in the kitchen. My friend Agnes had a coffee maker that she donated too and I was successful in finding a second hand DVD player for € 10,-. The person who was selling it was also selling a large DVD collection. I picked the family friendly movies - 15 of them - and he made me a good price.

It was a very buys time. My sister was out of town and I looked after her cat once a day. I was working on my own projects while preparing for my trip to Germany and going through the last to-do´s for the Rasoul´s.

Unfortunately I was not able to find a working TV. The ones that were for free, were broken. And pretty much all the TV´s up to € 65,- were broken too or had at least one severe technical issue such as:"sound but no picture" or "screen split in half". That was not my idea of entertainment. Probably no ones idea of entertainment.I just wondered why they were on sale at all. I managed to find two TV´s that were in good condition but I received no response.

I dropped off the DVD player at the Rasoul´s together with the DVD´s. It was such a pity that I had been unable to find a TV. My entertainment plan had to be postponed until after my visit to Germany. But they had internet at least and I had found a bed for Helz from a nursing home that was closing. It was for free and ready to be picked up on the next day.

As I was about to leave, I spoke to Shamse and we agreed on my hiring a transportation company that would pick up the bed and drop it off at the Rasoul´s. I would be able to supervise it from Germany over the phone.

I had given Shamse a large wall calendar where Austrian holidays were marked in red. We went through it and I explained that everything would be closed on these days. This was important as she needed to schedule her grocery shopping.

The family was thankful and excited whenever I would help. Of course they asked me to stay and eat with them but I had to catch my train. I would miss them and I gave my word that I would be back for lunch or dinner some other day and I also reminded them that we would see each other soon again, latest on January 3rd, the day the Rasoul´s were invited to the State Opera in Vienna by its director Dominique Meyer to see a children Opera that they had recommended: "Fatima und die mutigen Kinder" (Fatima and the brave children)

We said our goodbyes and would stay in touch. We hugged and kissed and we were all officially on a christmas break.
